Who We Are

Gedamm Cooperative of Society is a legal, non-governmental, and non-profit organization incorporated in 2023. Although it was recently established, Gedamm Cooperative has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting affected populations by facilitating access to basic health services, including addressing GBV cases and assisting children and displaced persons suffering from food insecurity through private donations over the past four years.

What We Do

The organization has a dedicated team of volunteers, managers, board members, and directors who have been consistently involved in providing essential services to the conflict-affected communities. Gedamm Cooperative of Society has also developed effective communication channels through television programs, YouTube, Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp, and IMO to engage with the community and stakeholders.

Mission

Facilitating support for impacted populations by ensuring access to fundamental health services, which encompasses the management of GBV cases and the provision of assistance to children and IDP individuals experiencing food insecurity, through private contributions.

Vision

The principal objective of the Gedamm Cooperative Society is to enhance the welfare and resilience of communities affected by conflict in Tigray, Amhara, Afar, and other regions in Ethiopia that may require our support. This is achieved through the provision of comprehensive assistance for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and addressing essential needs within displacement contexts.

Key Activities

We are actively facilitating support for affected populations in the Tigray region by ensuring access to essential health services, which include the management of GBV cases and the provision of assistance to children and internally displaced persons (IDPs) experiencing food insecurity through private contributions.

Safe Shelters

We are hiring local contractors to establish safe shelters and protection mechanisms for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) nd internally displaced persons (IDPs)

Medical Services

Referrals to medical services, including emergency contraception and post-exposure prophylaxis for survivors of (GBV) and (IDPs).

Community Awareness

Supporting the implementation of community awareness programs to reduce stigma and promote gender equality.

Our Achievement

  • Facilitated support for over 4,000 adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) who are survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) through psychological, physical, and financial assistance.
  • Provided referral services to over 30,000 ill individuals.
  • Provided cash and in-kind assistance to over 50,000 people affected by famine.
  • Provide long-term support to 1,000 individuals.

Our current projects area is Tigray region, including rural and urban areas such as Dessie, Mekele, Wukro, Kilte Awlalo, Adigrat, Zalambesa, Erob, Adwa, Abiy Adi, Yechila, Axum, Adiet, Wukromaraym, Selekleka, Zana, Shire, Adi Daero, Sheraro, May Hanse, Endabaguna.
