The Tigray region of Ethiopia has been severely affected by ongoing conflict, resulting in widespread displacement, loss of lives, and destruction of infrastructure. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 5.2 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance due to the conflict that started at the end of 2020. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that Tigray has been under a de facto blockade for the last two years, with little to no access to cash, fuel, telecommunication, or electricity, severely limiting humanitarian assistance and the delivery of essential supplies.
Gedam Media and Cooperative Charity seeks a grant from European Union to support the provision of essential health services, specifically focusing on medical and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services to GBV survivors in the conflict-affected areas of Tigray. The funds will be used to:
Gedam Media is a legal, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization incorporated in 2023. Although it was recently incorporated, Gedam Media has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting affected populations by providing access basic health services, including addressing GBV cases and assisting children and displaced persons who suffer from food insecurity though private donations for the past four years.
